Aldi will open on December 18th in Vila do Conde.

The opening, advanced by Hipersuper in late November, represents the 72nd Aldi store in Portugal and ninth in the northern region.

The German discounter arrived in 2017 in the north of the country and intends to reinforce the expansion in Greater Porto “in the coming months”, Rita Agostinho, the marketing director of the chain, told Hipersuper, on the occasion of the previous opening, in Leça da Palmeira.

The company has already planned for 2020 a new store in Vila Nova de Gaia, the third in that city, as well as in other locations in the country. The expansion of the chain in the country should “accelerate next year”, pursuing the goal of “triple the park of stores in three years ”.

According to the Aniko concept (which means Aldi Nord In-store concept), which the company has been implementing in its spaces and which favors a dimension of around 1,200 square meters, the new store features areas such as pastry and fresh bread, fruits and vegetables and a non-food area, where consumers find different opportunities every week.

The majority of the offer goes through private label products, including a variety of organic, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or lactose-free products, On the opening day, the chain will offer a premium on purchases over 15 euros.

It will also make available, between 18 and 22 December, the Aldi Bus, to transport consumers for free, with several stops around the city, to the store. As part of Aldi’s strategy to combat food waste, the new store also has a partnership with Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Vila do Conde.
