The application of the Municipality of Vila do Conde to the 7 Wonders of Portugal – Popular Culture Competition, in the categories of ‘Handicrafts’ and ‘Rituals and Customs’, was validated by the Scientific Council of this competition. The Municipality of Vila do Conde submitted an application for the handmade technique Rendas de Bilros, one of the main ex-libris of Vila do Conde, in the Crafts category, and Jogo da Péla, in the Rituals and Customs category, in a concerted effort to recover this intangible heritage so typical of the Easter season. All categories nominated for the competition are being voted on by the Expert Panel that constitutes the Scientific Council meeting for this year’s edition. It is worth mentioning that this is the second time that the Municipality of Vila do Conde has presented itself to a competition promoted by RTP, having applied, in the previous edition, with the Vilacondense pastry heritage.
